Before, After - Before, After!

Chia (Salvia hispanica L), "Indian running food", seed is among the great natural omega-3, fiber and antioxidant consumables containing no cholesterol that may help save lives and the failing health of millions of Americans and countless more around the globe. Chia is accredited to neutralizing acid reflux, lowering high blood pressure, managing cholesterol, controlling diabetes, healthy bones, weight loss, reducing heart disease, appeasing digestive disorders and improved bowel movements and even possible improved brain function. Absorb this chia knowledge to benefit your health and your outlook on life. Become the Chia Pet and integrate chia seed as a part of your being.

Chia seed, the "Indian running food", fed and strengthened the Mayan and Aztec nations. Warriors and travelers used it to sustain them for long treks and to supply them with energy and fulfillment. As a medicine Chia was used for everything from the common cold to constipation. Chia was an absolute part of their culture and societal health. Chia seeds were a primary food source for the ancient Aztecs, the Mesoamerican Mayans and other civilizations of the greater area. It was among the great crops along with Maize, Amaranth and Beans. Maize being the equivalent of corn. These civilizations maximized the uses of all resources they had at their disposal. The chia they used for medicines, flour, beverages and were even harvested for their oil which was the base for their body paints used primarily in their religious ceremonies.

Chia was a major crop on the North and South American continent prior to the discovery of America. Afterwards, farming changed along with societies and diet. Other crops were instituted and assimilated into the culture such as wheat and carrots. Such crops along with barley created an avenue of trade and wealth as the European market had a great demand for these crops. Crops that were once plentiful and maximized the lifespan of a people had now become a diminishing secondary crop and eventually just a hobby.

Thanks to organizations and projects such as the Northwestern Argentina Regional Project lesser known crops that once energized and fed nations are once again being grown around the world in hopes of once again satisfying the hungry in body and spirit. In doing so we, as a world community, may see beyond our modern dependence on unworthy food and view new life and purpose through simple grains. We can bring old and new together via technology and research. Development of lands and adapting crops to those lands are further interconnecting us as a global people. Chia's oil content is high and this makes a great insect repellent. This alone protects crops from insects saving growers worry of insecticides and pesticides. This also makes chia a pliable and easily adaptable crop for most types of climate. Through this effort we can help feed the hungry and generally improve the overall health of the world's population. Choose chia seed to become renewed in mind, body and spirit as in the days of old. The Chia Pet amassed it's growth quickly - let Chia Seed grow on you!

Chia is about 25% soluble and 75% insoluble. It contains 44% carbohydrate and 16% protein. The 31% contained fat is the ALA or alpha-linolenic acid. This particular acid is attributed to reducing heart disease risk, numbness, blurred vision and a host of other physical symptoms. It is high in calcium, protein, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Boron (absolutely essential for healthy bone growth and strength) and Cinnamic acids which is key to Chia seed longevity. Omega 3 and Omega 6 make up 70% of the chia seed oil. 40% given to Omega 6 and 30% to Omega 3. These Cinnamic acids protect against oxidation those precious Omega oils. Omega 3 and Omega 6 is specifically beneficial to pregnant women and those with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) though all people need these oils. Chia seeds are highly hydrophilic and can retain up to an amazing thirty times (yes, 30 Xs!) it's weight in water! So what's your point? Well, this fact allows the body to stay hydrated longer and the fluids of the body to retain their electrolytes. It holds that which is important within our bodies longer. On top of that these seeds are easily digestible and broken down to quickly benefit the cells of the body.

Yes, consumption of chia seeds can advocate weight loss. Because of it's incredible ability to soak up many times it's own weight it has the ability to cleanse the intestinal tract as explained further in this article. Also, it's expansion fills the stomach. Have you ever ate a slice of bread or two and experienced a "fullness" in your stomach and general appetite? That's because the bread is expanding and soaking up the acids in the stomach. This property allows the person to eat less portions of a meal and experience a better health feeling and level of energy.

Diabetes can be a devastating and deadly condition to live with. It involves how the body converts starches and carbohydrates into sugars (glucose). Chia seeds are a great benefit to those suffering with diabetes because it slows the rate at which the body does this conversion of carbohydrate calories into simple sugars. Part of it's fascinating properties is it's "gelling" affect. Chia seeds when wet becomes a gel in nature. This gel of mucilloid-soluble fiber acts as a blocker of high calorie foods from entering our system. It does this all in the machine of the digestive system. Through this management of sugar entering the blood one can significantly lower the risk of Type 2 Diabetes and at the same time streamline one's energy level.

Keeping with it's gelling nature some people have developed Diverticulitis and/or Diverticulosis due to the lack of quality food sources of fiber. Chia contains fibers which are soluble and some that are insoluble. The soluble fiber aids the body and obviously promotes regularity. The insoluble fiber which resides on the seed exterior and promotes the gelling affect is not digested quickly yet promotes smooth transitioning of food through the tract thus cleansing the way toward health!

This author advocates the use of Chia seed in people's diet. Over the many years the average human body has unconsciously become accustomed to it's particular diet whether it be fast food or healthy living. During and after the many years people wonder why they are out of shape or are having serious health issues. What we take into our bodies becomes a part of us and what becomes a part of us physically becomes a part of us spiritually. Chia has no particular taste or odor and has no particular preparation before consumption. Try it and you may be amazed at your energy level.

Chia can be put in absolutely anything! Anything at all! A couple tablespoons in you hot or cold drink will work wonders. Add it to your chicken, soup, yogurt, cereal or anything else you wish to consume. This open freedom to utilize this nature's gem in any way you see fit makes it worthy of trial. This author advocates Omega 3 Chia Seed for all your health needs!

Ahh, the magic elixir! No, but seriously, that’s good information. I shall try to embellish my health (not my girth) to a greater extent with Chia Seeds. The gardens in God’s Kitchen and Pharmacy are wonderful, don’t you think? Peace, Brother.
