Take the quizzes below!  On January 4th we celebrate Trivia Day. Test your general knowledge questions. Pursue quizzes and other trivia questions. It's the opportunity to emerge the head from the sand and display megabytes and terabytes you have in your brain. Present your knowledge based on academics and learned experience. Assess recent discoveries and prove them to the public with your own evaluation. Trivia Day may be “trivial” to some but for others it's just another opportunity to toot their own horn. This article will largely reflect the author's life learnings but will offer other useless tidbits of information.

In honor of this most beloved time of the year this author wishes to share with the planet the knowledge he has amassed. A testament, if you will, to the establishment of the person. A hallmark to the posterity of men that they may grow and mature in a more tolerant and sound society than what we have now. So sit back and enjoy this reflection of knowledge. Move over Cambridge and Yale. Now there's something way smarter.

The Internet

  • Quality keywords and content are key to establishing yourself on the internet.

  • Humility is required in order to fully learn from those more experienced in the world wide web.

  • New displays of amazing technology are seen daily.

  • With this increased technological liberty comes the essential virtue of discipline. In order to maintain integrity, especially among teenagers, great care must be taken in what is said, shown and posted on Facebook and other internet platforms.

  • With this great achievement comes the necessity for parents to know exactly where the wall plug outlet is. Turn the gadgets off and condition the family to read books or get out and be active.

  • Google Earth is cool!

  • The internet is a great place to learn psychology. Learning the search patterns of others and their seasons will help you gain a greater internet presence.

  • We are on the verge of two great precipices. One, greater technologies are just around the corner beyond any we've imagined. Two, huge public calamities are bound to happen when society has gotten to the point where a single silent word can be seen and heard around the world in mere moments of posting it.

  • It's really epic when you finally learn to use smileys on your internet work.

  • Google Keyword Tool is your friend.

War

  • Mankind has been desensitized to what's right and wrong. Social issues have been purposely inflated to hide this secret agenda. Death is a sad misfortune but is a reality of war. There are times when war is necessary and vital to liberty not just for free nations but those also striving to be free.

  • Corruption is on all levels. Integrity of leadership has fallen. When an allied nation is under attack will your nation's leadership maintain the integrity to choose the right action and go to their aid? Will they do this at the real expense of losing the affection of voters at home?

  • War in Iraq. When our men went in to the Auschwitz death camp for the Jews they did not know what they would see. The sheer quantity of dead bodies packed in rail cars stunned many of the fighting men of the American forces. Up to that point many of them questioned the war. However, seeing to the liberation of the Jewish prisoners proved the war a correct course of action. Why we went into the war in Iraq is mute at this point. What is true is that the Iraqis lived under a brutal dictatorship which needed to be removed. Seeing the relief of the people was proof enough that the war needed to be.

  • The mode of war. High regards this author gives to his nation's military's use of technology. Precision targeting and sure destruction to pinpoint accuracy have limited casualties and increased success. However, this author often wonders if wars would really take as long if we went back to the days of mere hand skills and tactics. For instance a blanket policy of no guns, bombs and nuclear deterrent. Both sides simply go at it with swords, shields and helmets. What would the world geography look like today if this policy were in place? Interesting concept.....

  • Discrimination. If you are willing, able and fit to fully give your heart and soul to your country then there should be no reason for your denial for combat duty. Whether gay or lesbian, rich or poor, black or white if you can fight – you should! At the same time we as individuals have the responsibility not to arbitrarily bring those outside issues to the signing table of the military. We should not openly proclaim our sexual orientation or even belittle ourselves because of our color. It's absolute responsibility on both sides.

Education

  • The education we receive largely determines how we will think and evaluate. It is a great disturbance seeing the omission of curriculum in our schools. Curriculum that was common teachings just a few years back. Many nations are now raised at the whim of the desire of minorities. Our every written word and picture is now mandated not to “offend” another person. Words including historical accounts. Many Civil War accounts are overlooked, lightly touched or outright omitted by legislation because it may offend someone who represents a block of voters. Is this wrong? You bet it is. History is history and the best way to avert repeating it is to learn from it – not hide it.

  • Again, touching on the minority issue this author believes that education should be available to all. However, free rides should not be freely granted to those who are not legal citizens of a nation. Especially when this favors them over that nation's own rising generation. It's preposterous! All for a few votes....

Family

  • A child has a right to a mother and a father who have solemnly vowed fidelity one to the other in holy matrimony. This union between man and woman is called marriage and constitutes the intention to raise a family through procreation or adoption. This is marriage. It is not the intent here to judge the sexual orientation or preference of any segment of society. However, if the majority of a given governed people speak their traditional view of marriage than it should be so. When the people have spoken then all under law should peaceably abide by it.

These ideas and views may or may not constitute the proclamation of Trivia Day on January 4th but these are the authors learned precepts based on experience. In conclusion let me dig deeper into my repertoire of useless knowledge:

  • Salt is often used for traction on icy roads and walkways. Cat litter also does the same thing only it does not dissolve.

  • Castor oil is an excellent source for “regularity.”

  • Old pants can easily be turned into useful space.

  • Honeycrisp apples are among the most sought after and the most delicious.

  • It's best to locate your home above a flood plane. Building dikes and levies are no guarantee that the flood waters will be held back.

  • Almond bark is among top selling products during the holiday season. Vanilla first.

  • Placing a few coins in a plastic bag of water can help repel flying insects. Tie the bag up. The sun rays will cause a blinding affect as it bounces off the coins in the water.

  • Circling your garden with bleached white flour can help greatly reduce rodent and bug infestation.

  • Placing alum on your mouse bait will rid you of these pests faster than Rid or rat killer.

  • Need healthy lawn or plants? Use epsom salt. It works!

  • If you highlight a word or phrase that you've typed in your word processor you can click on Hyperlink and link that word or phrase to a specific internet site. It's a cool tool!

  • Last but not least, if you have read this far it may be a sign that you've run out of things to do so this author invites you to come shovel his driveway.
