The following are the steps for bag creation and product completion in the VacUpak Vacuum Packer process:
Prepare Your Vacuum Bag
1. Verify your desired setting on the Selector knob whether it be bag sealing or canning. Also adjust your heat level to your accustomed level on the Heat Sealer Time Adjustment Knob. Also, make sure your Cutting Lever and Blade are brought clear to the left of unit.
2. Plug in your Vacupack vacuum sealer into your 110 volt outlet.
3. Select your desired size of bag width.
4. Insert your roll of plastic into the Bag Storage Compartment while making sure the perforated side is the underside of the sheet.
5. Unroll the plastic under the Operating Arm and in a resting position over the Heat Sealer Bar. The length extended beyond this bar is your desired length. Always allow the desired length plus three inches for the sealing process.
6. Raise the Operating Arm and hook the elbow on it's custom fitting on the body of the VacUpack. This should give the arm it's "springing" resting state.
7. Fully depress the Operating Arm. While doing so depress the Cutting Lever and Blade and slide completely to the right of the VacUpack. DO NOT release the arm until the Heat Sealer Indicator light goes off and the motor ceases.
8. Raise the Operating Arm and inspect your bag for a secured seal. Without a secured seal all hopes for sealing your goods in the bag will fail.
Successfully Vacuum Sealing Contents in Your Bag
1. Fill your bag with the desired contents - again, leaving at least three inches at the top for the seal and sealing process.
2. ESSENTIAL!! The bag must be clean! Open the two layers of the bag and insert the perforated bottom layer under the Vacuum Nozzle but NOT beyond the raised marking line on top of it. Also, the bag's mouth must be free of folds, wrinkles and all things that may prohibit a good seal for the vacuum process.
3. CAREFULLY, SLOWLY and CALMLY depress the Operating Arm halfway thus activating the vacuum. You should immediately see the ridding of air from the bag. If not, raise the arm and readjust the bag staging.
4. When the Vacuum Indicator Gauge completely turns green fully depress the Operating Arm to activate the Heat Sealer Bar. Again, DO NOT raise the arm until the Heat Sealer Indicator light goes off and the motor ceases.
5. Check your new vacuum sealed product completely for air leaks.
Using the VacUpak is not just for freezer or new items to be preserved. Got an open bag of potato chips? Vacuum and seal it up! Got peanut or candy bags? Vacuum and seal it up! Though their plastic packaging is not ideal for long-term preservation it will extend their shelf life significantly. In fact, it would be a good addition to any home to earmark a spot by the dinner table or kitchen strictly for your VacUpak Vacuum Packer or other like device for ease and convenience of readily accessing the benefits of food storage and preservation.

If you want to store multiple small items, it is better to keep them in a desiccator than packing each individual items using a sealer bag. Both are functioning the same, keep the item away from the air and moisture.
